Anthony Anderson is finding out a high-profile divorce is very expensive. The “black-ish” actor has been ordered to pay his ex-wife, Alvina Stewart, a whopping $20,000 monthly as part of their divorce settlement. That’s $240,000 a year.
And, he has agreed to pay his ex-wife over $4 million in a one-time equalization payment.
The pair, married in 1999, has two children who are adults.
The spousal support is contingent on Anderson’s annual earnings, and if his income surpasses $2 million, he will have to pay an additional 20 percent of his income to Stewart.
The divorce settlement also delineates the former couple’s division of assets and property. Anderson, 53, gets to keep a 2004 Land Rover and a property in Encino, California. Stewart will retain their shared home in Houston and a 2022 Mazda. The couple’s cemetery plot at Inglewood Park Cemetery will be sold, and the profits will be split evenly between them.
Anderson also was ordered to return a Glock-19 gun that is registered to Stewart.
Payback
It was reported that Stewart asked that the court date the payments back to March 1, 2022. In response, Anderson’s lawyers claimed he should only have to pay from June 1, 2022 on. Following having their finances examined by a joint forensic accountant, Anderson agreed to her conditions for back pay, according to People.
Second Time Around
Stewart was the one who filed for divorce in March 25, 2022, citing irreconcilable differences after 22 years of marriage. And this wasn’t the first time she had done so. She filed in 2015 and later dismissed the petition, The Daily Mail reported.
Money Man?
The Compton native has an estimated net worth of $25 million. He is one of Hollywood’s steadiest working actors, having appeared in numerous movies and TV shows. He completed an eight-year run (2014-2022) on the popular series “black-ish,” and before that he was a star on the long-running crime series “Law & Order” from 2008 to 2010. In 2021, he resumed his role as detective Kevin Bernard for a one-year contract.
