Jay-Z recently celebrated his 54th birthday in true style with a lavish and star-studded party organized by none other than his wife, Beyoncé. The extravagant celebration took place on Dec. 4 at the picturesque vineyards of Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte in the Bordeaux region of France.
Reports suggest that this birthday bash was nothing short of a grand spectacle. The exclusive party included a chateau dinner, private flights, and even a ride on a specially chartered Venice Simplon Orient Express train, as reported by French news network TF1. This multi-day celebration attracted an array of A-list guests, including the likes of Rihanna, Kris Jenner, and Ellen Pompeo, among others, People reported.
For the duration of their stay, the illustrious attendees were accommodated at the opulent five-star spa and hotel Les Sources de Caudalie on the vineyard’s premises.
During the celebration, guests embarked on exciting excursions to six of Bordeaux’s most renowned winemaking estates, such as Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a 215-acre vineyard that King Charles III also visited in September. The partygoers were treated to an exquisite selection of fine and rare wines at Chateau Yquem and Cheval Blanc, both of which are properties under the luxury house LVMH. (Side note: Jay-Z had sold 50 percent of his champagne house, Arnaud de Brignac, to LVMH in 2021.)
There was also a wine tasting at Château Pétrus featuring bottles from the 1969 vintage, a nod to Jay-Z’s birth year. The estate produces bottles of red wine that fetch an average of over $5,000 each, Architectural Digest reported.
In one photo posted to Beyonce’s Instagram, Jay-Z is holding up a bottle of 1969 Chateau d’Yquem, which on Wine Searcher site is around $1,200, and Chateau d’Yquem dated 1973, which is listed on the same site for $755.
Another photo posted by Beyonce shows a bottle of Château Pétrus Pomerol 1973 that has been signed, presumedly, by the guests. Vinino.com lists that red wine for nearly $4,000.
