Simone Biles and the U.S. women’s gymnastics team have been dazzling audiences at the 2024 Paris Olympics in more ways than one — not just with their athletic prowess but also with their stunning leotards.
Swarovski Gives Biles That Extra Dazzle
Each leotard, crafted by gymnastics clothing company GK Elite Sportswear, features an astounding 47,000 Swarovski crystals, and if sold in stores each outfit would retail for around $3,000, according to the sportswear company. This remarkable design adds an extra layer of sparkle to the team’s performance — and may be the most expensive uniform at the Olympics, according to reports.
Alongside Biles, Jordan Chiles, Hezly Rivera, Jade Carey, and Sunisa Lee are wearing the crystal-adorned leotards, adding a touch of glamour to their routines.
The leotards not only feature a record number of Swarovski crystals but also come in various iterations. The team competition will see the quintet donning the red, white, and blue version, while other designs will be worn during the individual all-around and individual discipline events. Each uniform is crafted to ensure both aesthetic appeal and optimal performance. There’s also a jersey with 10,000 Swarovski crystals, WWD reports.
For their various exercises, the team has been seen wearing a glistening blue leotard with the Swarovski crystals forming stars on the bodice and sleeves. It was the outfit Biles recently wore when she owned with her balance beam exercise.
Prior to this, in the qualifying rounds, Biles wore a black leotard with a burst of colorful crystals.
In a memorable presentation, the gymnasts received their leotards from lavish red boxes, with Paris’ iconic Eiffel Tower as the backdrop. Shown on video on Team USA social media unboxing their uniforms, Biles and her teammates seemed ecstatic, with Biles exclaiming, “This is beautiful!”
She added, ‘You guys killed these leos!’
