Inside Denzel Washington’s Exclusive Beverly Park Estate and His Real Estate Portfolio

Denzel Washington has been mesmerizing audiences on stages and the silver screen since the early 1980s with portrayals ranging from a Black Civil War soldier, a corrupt police officer, and Black liberation leader. Now Washington is gearing up for the anticipated movie “Gladiator 2” set to hit theaters in November.

But when he’s not working, where does Washington rest?

Worth a reported $300 million, Washington’s primary residence is in Beverly Park, an exclusive area in Beverly Hills, where he lives with his wife, Pauletta. His four children, including actor John David Washington, were raised at the home. He’s also had some famous neighbors, such as Eddie Murphy and Mark Wahlberg.

Let’s look at the property Washington has called home for over 30 years.

An Estate for Hollywood Royalty

In 1996 — four years after Washington starred in the biopic “Malcolm X” — he purchased a property that would suit his stature as a Hollywood star. For $2.6 million, Washington purchased a massive 2.13-acre lot from then-Walt Disney CEO, Michael Eisner. A photo of the property by Getty Images from 1999 captioned with a description showing a 28,887-square-foot mansion on the lot. Washington and his family apparently moved into the eight-bedroom, 14-bathroom abode late that year. It’s amenities include a 5,000-square-foot guest house is adjacent to the main residence and overlooks the swimming pool area. In addition to the pool, there is a spa area, tennis court, and a fountain.

The manicured hedge gardens and tall trees throughout make Washington’s main abode a relaxing space.

Century City Condo

When Washington is not at his main residence, he enjoys spending time at his condominium in Century City, another L.A. suburb. In 2022, Washington purchased the apartment in the legendary “The Century” for $10.9 million. His neighbors include celebrities such as Rihanna and Paula Abdul.

Purchased from Saudi Arabian Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, the condo 8,000 square foot apartment is a custom space built from two combined units. The apartment includes six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. What makes the unit super unique is its two living rooms and dining rooms and expansive terrace space for outside lounging. Glass windows throughout the apartment provide panoramic views of Los Angeles.

The amenities available to Washington at “The Century” are also luxe. There is around-the-clock concierge services available, a business center, a five-star restaurant, pet spa, children’s play area and a 75-foot swimming pool.

Other Properties Owned by Denzel Washington

While Washington’s Beverly Park estate and his condo in Century City are his mainstays, his real estate has included properties throughout California and New York.

Washington’s Beverly Park home was an upgrade from his home in Toluca Lake. In 1988, while starring in the television series “St. Elsewhere,” Washington purchased the 6,333-square-foot home for $1.1 million. The abode included four bedrooms and five bathrooms. He sold the property in 2000 for $1.9 million.

The quaintness of Briarcliff Manor, New York, made Denzel Washington fall in love enough to purchase a home in the town. Constructed in 1920, the 8200-square-foot residence was featured in the film “American Gangster.” Not much is known about the estate’s main house, but original leaded glass windows remained throughout the home along with chestnut floorboards and doors and panels made of English pine. However, the stately home was not enough to remain in Washington’s real estate portfolio. In 2014, Washington sold the property that featured a three-bedroom colonial farmhouse, a caretaker’s cottage, a greenhouse, two staff apartments, a studio, and a garage area for $4.7 million.

It’s only right that Washington, a New York native, would own at least one property in Manhattan. In 2006, Washington purchased a $13 million condominium. The 3,000-square-foot apartment features three bedrooms and four bathrooms. The building’s amenities include a lap pool, health center, showroom, a private restaurant, a private chef, and a courtyard.
