Joshua Danrich was just 10 years old when he began selling homemade air fresheners. Now, at 16, the St. Louis teen has secured a nationwide deal with Walmart, bringing his “Mr. Fresh” brand to store shelves across the country.
“This is history in real time, and these are things that have never been done before,” Danrich said. “Less than 100 teens are in Walmart, and I’m one of them!”
Welcome to Walmart
Danrich, a student at Chaminade College Preparatory School, first launched his brand with help from his mother at their kitchen table, where the pair outlined a business plan. He began by selling air fresheners to classmates and family, eventually growing the business through word of mouth and persistence.
“I went to Walmart’s open call with a dream: my product and a whole lot of passion. I believe in myself. I sealed the deal, and now my products are in Walmart stores — and they love it,” he said. “It’s amazing. I’m inspiring the youth. If I can do it, so can you!”
The Mr. Fresh line includes six scents — Yellow Rose, Black Gold, Cool Breeze, Jasmine, Baby Powder, and Vanilla — each made with 100% essential oils. Packaged in two-ounce premium glass spray bottles, the products promise up to 72 hours of freshness with just a few spritzes.
Danrich’s mission goes beyond fragrance. He hopes his success inspires other young people to follow their passions.
“People ask me, ‘Mr. Fresh, how do you do it?’” he said. “Invest in yourself. Be what you want to be and start your own business.”
His long-term goal is to one day own a luxury car dealership, but for now, Danrich says he’s focused on growing Mr. Fresh and continuing to prove that age is no barrier to success.
