According to court documents obtained by Atlanta Black Star, the legal battle between Noah and Dr. Riley J. Williams has gotten more complex. A New York judge has ordered Noah to be questioned under oath by Williams by Nov. 18. The 38-year-old Comedy Central host also must submit to a physical examination within 60 days of the order.

Noah Claims Malpractice

In 2021, Noah filed a lawsuit against Williams, who specializes in knee, shoulder and elbow work. The Hospital for Special Surgery was also named in the suit, which charges that Dr. Williams was negligent during a procedure. The lawsuit claims that both the hospital and orthopedic surgeon were “careless in failing to treat and care for [him] in a careful and skillful manner.”

As far as his injury, Noah described it as “permanent, severe and grievous.”

Noah revealed he went to Williams multiple times, from Aug. 25 to Dec. 17, including for an unspecified surgery.

After his surgery, Noah said that Dr. Williams and the hospital “failed to prescribe him proper medications,” that the “doctor failed to “discontinue certain prescription medications,” and had “failed to do proper testing in order to “diagnose the conditions.”

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for the loss of enjoyment of life and severe emotional distress.

In his response, Williams argued, “That whatever damages may have been sustained at the time and place alleged in the complaint by [Noah] were caused, in whole or in part, by the culpable conduct of [Noah] and without any negligence on the part of [Riley].”

Williams, who has been in practice for more than two decades, is worth a reported (but not confirmed) $25 million. The base salary for orthopedic surgeon ranges from $403,660 to $664,210, with the average base salary of $513,430, according to Salary.com.

Noah has a reported net worth of $100 million.

Court Made Demands of Noah

Noah also has to give the okay for Williams to obtain his records from other doctors and pharmacies, this included getting authorizations from Michael Aziz, MD, James Tibone, MC, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, MINK Radiologic Imaging and Meyer Institute of Sport, Duane Reade Pharmacy, Pharmacies in California. He also has to let Williams contact his personal trainer(s).
