Located on land overlooking the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta, Harvey’s estate sits on 17 acres and includes a 35,000-square-foot mansion inspired by the Palace of Versailles.
The mega mansion features seven bedrooms and nine-and-a-half bathrooms. In addition, Harvey uses formal and informal spaces to entertain guests and relax with his family. There’s also a movie theater, wine cellar and indoor swimming pool. Yet the big surprise is the underground ballroom that includes a catering kitchen.
The estate’s exterior features manicured lawns flanked by trimmed gardens. A Versailles-style painting makes up the bottom of Harvey’s 70,000-gallon infinity edge swimming pool. There’s also a lighted tennis court, a gym and a spa.
Guests can stay in Harvey’s guesthouse, while his staff also has a place on the estate: a detached caretaker’s suite and a guardhouse. An advanced security system keeps Harvey and his family safe, while a backup generator is present in case of a blackout.
Producer Tyler Perry purchased the estate in 2005, for $9 million. Over the next few years, he spent several million dollars on renovations. In 2016, Perry sold it for $17.5 million. Originally, Perry placed it on the market for $25 million but after spending almost two years without a buyer, the estate was sold at a lower price to David Turner, an entrepreneur specializing in dried fruit and nuts. Turner, who is also an evangelist, said, “I went online, and I saw this house, and that’s when I felt like God told me, ‘This is your house.’ ” Five years later, Turner sold it to Harvey for $15 million and lost an estimated $2.5 million.
