In a not-so-subtle move, Kanye West has opened a Yeezy store across the street from his former business partner Adidas in Los Angeles.
The new headquarters for his Yeezy apparel brand is located on Los Angeles’ Melrose Avenue between Laurel and North Edinburgh streets, where fans of West reportedly can see what the rapper is doing fashion-wise. The former billionaire artist leased the 7,400-square-foot showroom.
The location is in close proximity to Adidas’ Los Angeles flagship store, the U.S. Sun reported. Adidas was West’s former partner in his Yeezy shoe line until the German sports apparel giant broke its relationship with West following anti-Semitic remarks made by him in October 2022.
Adidas actually has more than one location in Los Angeles: The Grove at 189 The Grove Drive; Beverly Center at 8500 Beverly Blvd; Westfield Century City at 10000 Santa Monica Blvd; and Santa Monica Place at 310 Santa Monica Place.
The Adidas Originals flagship store is at 8009 Melrose Ave., right near West’s new store.
The New Yeezy
Initially, it was reported that the building would be a storefront for Yeezy brands, in direct competition with Adidas. Insiders have told The Sun that the building will serve as both a place to sell products and host events.
“The vision for its use has changed to being multi-purpose, it’s not just going to be a store,” a reported insider told The Sun. “Ye has been hosting parties for three weeks in a row at the venue and giving away sample pieces for his latest collection.”
The reported source continued, “There’s no date set for the release yet but it’ll be soon, he’s been working hard to get everything ready for his comeback. He’s hosted movie nights with close friends at the space and brought back Sunday Service last week for the first time in more than a year; kids from Donda Academy performed.”
Adidas is Revisiting Yeezy Brand
As Finurah previously reported, Adidas reportedly will lose an estimated billion dollars in sales by ending its relationship with West. The company, unable to profit from its inventory estimated to be worth more than $1 billion, has recently decided to sell its remaining stock of Yeezy shoes and donate a portion of the money to charity.
