Young tennis sensation Coco Gauff has become the highest-paid female athlete in the world, according to Sportico’s annual list of top sports earners. In 2023, the 19-year-old tennis star earned a whopping $23 million from her tennis wins as well as lucrative endorsement deals.

On-Court Success

Coco Gauff’s incredible 2023 season was marked by her breakthrough victory at the prestigious U.S. Open, where she clinched her first Grand Slam title. This monumental win not only cemented her place among the tennis elite but also contributed significantly to her earnings.

Gauff reached the WTA’s world No. 3 ranking, solidifying her position as one of the sport’s brightest stars.

Off-Court Earnings

Gauff’s off-court earnings are equally notworthy. In 2023, she earned an estimated $16 million from endorsements alone. He deals include such brands as Bose, UPS, Barilla, Baker Tilly, and Ray Ban’s smart glasses in collaboration with Meta. She also signed with New Balance at the age of 14.

Rising to the Top

Last year, she ranked at No. 8 on Sportico’s list of highest-paid female athletes, with an estimated total earnings of $7.7 million, primarily stemming from endorsement deals. In 2023, her earnings skyrocketed to $22.7 million, with $16 million originating from off-court endeavors.

Gauff was also recently named the most marketable women’s tennis player in the world, according to SportsPro’s 50 Most Marketable list.

Behind Gauff on the list was fellow tennis player Iga Swiatek, with earnings of $21.9 million, with $12 million of that in endorsement deals. In third place was skier Eileen Gu $20 million, all from skiing earnings. Black American tennis star Naomi Osaka, who has been on a self-imposed hiatus from the sport, was No. 5 with $15 million in earnings, all from endorsements.
