Patrick Mahomes is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. The Kansas City Chiefs player is one of only two players to throw for 50 touchdowns and 5,000 yards in one season. He has led the Kansas City Chiefs to three Super Bowl championships, winning titles such as NFL Offensive Player of the Year and NFL MVP.
As the only quarterback to throw for 5,000 yards in both a professional and college football season, Mahomes has made a name for himself on and off the field, most recently partnering with Adidas to design a uniform for his alma mater, Texas Tech University. Mahomes, who has an estimated net worth of $90 million, is also the co-owner of the soccer team Kansas City Current, and has a minor stake in the Kansas City Royals baseball team.
Throughout Mahomes’ career, he’s also purchased real estate properties that serve as a space to relax and unwind with his wife, Brittany, and growing brood of children. Here’s a look at the properties Mahomes has called home.
Patrick Mahomes: Laying A Foundation For Wealth
When Mahomes signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017, the quarterback decided to purchase a bachelor pad in downtown Kansas City. His first purchase was an 1800-square-foot penthouse just steps from Arrowhead Stadium. According to the Kansas City Star, the two-bedroom abode cost Mahomes $307,000 and featured hardwood floors, recessed lighting, two wood-burning fireplaces, and three outdoor spaces. Knowing he’d outgrown the space, he placed it for sale in 2019 but took it off the market when he couldn’t find a buyer. However, in 2023, Mahomes placed it back on the market for $550,000. The property sold for an undisclosed amount in October 2023.
More Space to Play
Just two years after making his first real estate purchase, Mahomes was ready to expand. He chose to move 20 minutes away to a Kansas City suburb. He plunked down a reported $1.925 million for 1.4 acres of land. The 4,300-square-foot home was built in 1953 and featured three bedrooms and four bathrooms. He quickly renovated the residence to include an open floor plan, an eat-in kitchen, a family room, a wine room, a wet bar, and office space. Outside, a sun porch, pool, patio, and rose garden made the space inviting and relaxing. Unfortunately, Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, needed more privacy for their family and sold the property for $2.9 million in 2023.
A Super Bowl Ring Calls For A Dream Estate
Just months after leading the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl Championship since 1970, Mahomes purchased a vacant parcel of land in Belton, Missouri.
“I actually decided to get the land, to get ready to build that right when I signed my contract here in Kansas City,” Mahomes shared in the docuseries “Quarterback.” “I knew I wanted to be here [in Kansas City]. So when I did that, I was like, ‘I’mma be here, I might as well build the exact house I want.’”
The asking price for the 8-acre plot was $400,000, but what Mahomes paid is not known. Over the next three years, Mahomes built a compound on the land. While very little is known about the property’s interior, aerial images have revealed that there’s an expansive main residence, a pool, pond, firepit, and par-three golf hole. But one of the greatest features of the estate was a 50-yard football field with a soccer net featuring Mahomes’ logo and his last name in the end zone.
Patrick Mahomes At Home In Texas
During the offseason, Mahomes spends his time in the Lone Star State. The Texas native purchased a 7,800-square-foot modern farmhouse-style home in 2020 for $3.37 million. The Westlake home features four bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Throughout the home are contemporary features such as double-height ceilings and a floating staircase. A color palette of white, gray, and blue are present as well in rooms such as the wine room, wet bar, and game room. Outside there is a golf course, space for outdoor grilling and lounging, and an infinity pool and spa.
