Reese Witherspoon Walked Away From ‘Legally Blonde’ With Her Entire Elle Woods Wardrobe–77 Pairs of Jimmy Choos Included. Here’s Why No One Stopped Her

The famed fictional legal eagle Elle Woods never met a pair of shoes she didn’t love — and neither did the actress who portrayed her, Reese Witherspoon.

The Oscar-winning actress revealed on “The Graham Norton Show” in November 2019 that she got to take home her entire wardrobe from “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde.” Yes, that includes 77 pairs of Jimmy Choo shoes.

The clip recently resurfaced recently on the Instagram account of Hardly Ever Worn It.

In Her Shoes

“I had it written in my contract,” Witherspoon said in the interview, laughing. “I have all of them.”

Witherspoon appeared on the talk show alongside fellow Hollywood icons Julie Andrews and Jennifer Aniston, who also shared what keepsakes they held onto from their most iconic roles. Aniston, with whom Witherspoon stars in Apple TV+ series “The Morning Show,” mentioned she has the neon “Central Perk” coffee sign from “Friends” hanging in her office, while Andrews said she kept a pair of shoes from “Mary Poppins,” which now serve as quirky doorstops. But Witherspoon’s wardrobe haul left even her co-stars stunned.

When asked if she ever wore any of the designer shoes in real life, Witherspoon admitted they’ve mostly served as memorabilia. “I’ve never touched them [since], and then on the 15th anniversary, I took them all out of storage and tried them all on,” she said. “Some of them fit, some of them didn’t, and then I showed them all to my daughter and it was really cool.”

The wardrobe wasn’t just any closet — it was Elle Woods’ iconic pink-and-polished power look, and it has since become a pop culture touchstone. From tailored suits to fuzzy pens and, of course, the endless collection of high heels, Elle’s style helped define a generation of fashion-forward film lovers.

Witherspoon has occasionally revisited her “Legally Blonde” alter ego on social media, even posting a Snapchat story — according to Footwear News — that showcased some of her movie shoes lined up like a designer showroom.
