Kris Jenner is no stranger to changing her looks, and now people are amazed at her new look. At 69, the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch is looking more youthful than ever, sparking a wave of online speculation about what exactly she’s had done. The answer, fans suspect, is the increasingly buzzed-about deep plane face-lift.
What Money Can Buy
The deep plane face-lift isn’t just another cosmetic trend — it’s a surgical procedure where the deeper connective tissue layer of the face, known as the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system), is lifted for more natural and longer-lasting results. Dr. Daniel Knott, director of facial cosmetic surgery at UCSF Health, told USA Today the procedure offers less visible scarring and can keep patients looking youthful for up to 15 years. It also comes with a hefty price tag, ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 depending on the surgeon and any additional enhancements.
Kim Kardasian’s mother can afford it — she has an estimates net worth of $170 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
“The plane you operate in is deeper, the skin is thicker and it holds the tension better,” Knott says. “It’s also a much longer-lasting outcome and the scarring is as good as possible because it doesn’t widen or thicken.”
Unlike traditional face-lifts, which mainly tighten the skin and tend to offer shorter-lasting results, deep plane face-lifts go beneath the surface for a more durable outcome, explains Knott.
Because the skin remains connected to the underlying SMAS layer, deep plane face-lifts are also better at preserving blood supply.
And when it comes to surgeons, Jenner apparently went to one of the most in-demand names in the business: New York City-based Dr. Steven M. Levine. Known as the “face-lift maestro,” Levine is rumored to have worked on everyone from Lindsay Lohan to Demi Moore. While Jenner hasn’t confirmed what specific procedure she had, both Page Six and People have named Levine as her doctor.
