Even though Tyrese Gibson is now single and celebrating his 46th birthday in Turks and Caicos with his girlfriend, the singer-actor is still reflecting on his divorce from ex-wife Samantha Lee Gibson and the toll he says it took on his life and career.
In a social media post shared just after Christmas, Gibson said he felt “liberated” following the finalization of his divorce after a contentious four-year legal battle.

He claimed the split resulted in nearly $50 million in losses, including more than $2 million in legal fees, as well as public scrutiny and reputational damage.
“After 4½ years, nearly $2M+ in legal fees, surviving one of the most emotionally draining seasons of my life…Still showing up. Still creating. Still loving. Still a great and present father,” Gibson posted.
Gibson is currently in a relationship with model Zelie Timothy and is vacationing with her in Turks and Caicos, where he said he was planning to host a “legendary” all-white birthday party on Dec. 30 to symbolize a fresh start.
“First stop: Turks and Caicos Birthday and New Years 2026!” he wrote. “Capricorn season! Birthday Dec 30th and a NYE 2026 birthday celebration LEGENDARY WHITE PARTY that will hit on NEW LEVELS.”
He credited Timothy with supporting him throughout the ordeal.
Despite being on vacation, Gibson reflected on the emotional weight of the divorce in a lengthy Instagram post, writing that he had: “Endured almost $50M worth of public scrutiny, PR damage, and reputational attacks tied to divorce and child support battles the whole world got to witness.”
Gibson also revealed that he spent Christmas alone, explaining that he was unable to bring his entire family together, though he noted that his daughters were still taken care of and received their gifts.
As Finurah previously reported, Gibson released an album titled “Beautiful Pain,” which he completed during the divorce and has described as reflecting the emotional strain he experienced during that period.
Gibson has an estimated net worth of $4 million.
