Jasmine Crockett Lives the ‘Poor Life’: Inside the Outspoken Politician’s Net Worth

Jasmine Crockett has quickly become one of the most recognizable and outspoken voices in American politics. Representing Texas’s 30th Congressional District since 2023, she has cultivated a reputation for bold statements, viral moments, and a candid approach. She recently launched her Senate run.

What She Makes

Despite her rising profile, Crockett’s personal finances tell a story far more grounded than online rumors suggest. Reports of Crockett’s net worth have ranged widely — from $2 million to $9 million — but the Texas Democrat has repeatedly denied exaggerations. During a Feb. 21, 2025, appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” she called claims of multimillion-dollar wealth and luxury property ownership “dumber than bricks.” She has also said reports misrepresented her use of campaign funds.

Crockett earns a base congressional salary of $174,000 per year, standard for U.S. House members, The New York Post reported. Before entering politics, she ran a private legal practice focusing on civil rights and criminal defense, handling both pro bono work and higher-profile cases.

A 2022 financial disclosure for the government, it showed three stock holdings (Devon Enrgy, MGM Resots, Modrna) that did not pay her earnings and that her law firm has profits that year of $26,000.

“As an attorney, yeah we do have cases that hit for millions of dollars. It’s not really that odd. The thing is, I’ve always been a bleeding-heart liberal. So I was doing more criminal defense than anything. I wasn’t really doing a lot of the million dollar cases unless I’m helping the homies,” Crockett explained on “The Breakfast Club.”

She also pointed out that she has not cashed in on her role. “And honestly, I’m not allowed to take any money, like I have to live a very poor life right now, right like you’re getting paid, I could be getting paid.”

Her financial disclosures also show she has student loan debt between $15,001 and $50,000, and she currently faces a $3,000 lien on her Dallas condominium. This lien prevents her from selling the property until resolved.
