In a twist that not many saw coming, Donald Trump and billionaire Mark Cuban seem suddenly aligned.

Strange Bedfellows
This is the same Cuban Trump once blasted as “weak” and a “loser.” And the same Cuban, founder of Cost Plus Drugs, who has called out Trump, whose net worth has ballooned to $6 billion from $2.5 billion since taking office for a second term, on many occasions.
The two showed up at a White House event promoting a new push to lower prescription drug prices. Founded in 2022, Cost Plus Drugs is an American Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), a legally recognized type of for-profit company that is required to balance making a profit with generating a positive impact on society, workers, the community, and the environment. Cost Plus is an online pharmacy designed to lower prescription medication costs by cutting out middlemen (like pharmacy benefit managers). It purchases drugs directly from manufacturers to sell them with transparent pricing.
TrumpRx has been highly criticized, with some industry experts calling it a “glorified coupon book.” It is an online prescription drug platform launched in February by the U.S. federal government. It is a government-facilitated price-comparison portal designed to help consumers find heavily discounted “cash-pay” prices for popular brand-name and generic drugs.
Cuban stood alongside Trump and officials including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Dr. Mehmet Oz to back the “TrumpRx” initiative. Cuban couched it as a rare bipartisan effort, saying cheaper drugs are something “Republicans, Democrats, and independents” can all agree on.
Trump, of course, couldn’t resist a jab — dismissing Cuban’s 2024 support of Kamala Harris as “a big mistake.” Cuban shrugged it off, saying he wasn’t there to talk politics. Interestingly, Trump claimed he’s “always” respected Cuban, who is worth an estimated $6 billion and is the former principal owner and current minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks and from 2012 to 2025 was one of the main “sharks” on the “Shark Tank.”
Social media was anything but friendly about the two meeting up.
One X user wrote, “Really bummed that Mark Cuban stood behind Trump while he lied his ass off.” Another added, “Another billionaire. They are all the same.” A third warned, “This should be taken as a warning… He will lie and you will be a nodding doofus in the background as your reputation… is shredded.”
