Veteran NBA forward Nicolas Batum is putting his longtime North Carolina home on the market, listing the expansive Lake Norman estate for $6 million as he shifts focus to the next phase of his career both on and off the court.

Batum, 37, purchased the waterfront property in 2016 for $3.725 million, according to PropertyShark records, during his tenure with the Charlotte Hornets. The French-born player spent five seasons with the team before being waived in 2020. He is now in his second stint with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Inside the Mansion
The property sits on 1.35 acres along the shores of Lake Norman, a sought-after destination for luxury buyers, including professional athletes and NASCAR drivers. Built in 2007, the Mediterranean-style mansion spans more than 10,000 square feet and is designed to emphasize privacy, recreation and waterfront living.

Listing agent Michelle Rhyne of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty said the estate reflects the type of high-end amenities that continue to attract affluent buyers to the area, according to reporting by Mansion Global.

“The estate reflects the level of privacy, recreation and waterfront living that continues to draw high-profile buyers to Lake Norman, particularly properties that feel more like a private resort than a traditional residence,” Rhyne said.
The home’s interior features a dramatic entrance, with a sweeping wood staircase, a column-lined foyer and a double-height sitting room overlooking the pool. The main living areas are designed with an open layout, connecting the kitchen and living room, where a sculptural fireplace serves as a focal point.
The residence includes six bedrooms. The primary suite offers a sitting area, a dressing room with French doors that open to the outdoors and a bathroom outfitted with a soaking tub, rain shower and a vanity reminiscent of a salon.

Additional amenities inside the home include a wine vault, a private theater, a recreation room, a dedicated shoe closet and an elevator that provides access to all three levels.
Outdoor features further enhance the property’s resort-like feel. A covered patio with a fireplace sits adjacent to a pool complex that includes a hot tub and a waterfall feature cascading into a lower plunge pool. The grounds also include a gazebo and a basketball court.
Positioned above the shoreline, the home provides elevated views of the lake. A path from the backyard leads down to a private covered dock, offering direct access to the water.
Lake Norman, located just outside Charlotte, has long been a magnet for luxury real estate buyers seeking expansive homes with waterfront access. Properties in the area often combine large lots, privacy and amenities geared toward recreation and entertaining.
Batum’s listing adds to the inventory of high-end homes in the region, as demand for lakefront properties continues among buyers looking for both primary residences and vacation-style retreats.
