After more than a decade of family life in Brentwood’s Lower Mandeville Canyon neighborhood, actors Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have put their longtime Los Angeles home on the market for $10.5 million.

Moving On
The couple, who met while filming the 1997 horror film “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and married in 2002, purchased the Colonial-style residence in 2013 for $6.1 million. They have since relocated to an Encino property acquired in an off-market transaction in spring 2025 for about $12.4 million.

The Brentwood home briefly appeared on the rental market last year for $60,000 a month and is now listed for sale with Cindy Ambuehl of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California.

“The home feels safe, private, and part of a wonderful community,” Ambuehl told Realtor.com. “The floor plan is smart and functional, with both a front staircase and a secondary kitchen staircase, which made everyday family living very easy.”
According to Realtor.com, Gellar and Prinze customized the property during their ownership, including upgrades to the swimming pool and the conversion of an attic into a recreation space outfitted with arcade games for their children.

Designed and built in 2006 by Greg and Grace Shain of Shain Development, the residence sits on slightly more than one-third of an acre and contains five bedrooms and six bathrooms across approximately 7,300 square feet.
The three-level home features wide-plank oak flooring, custom millwork and French doors that connect indoor living spaces to the landscaped grounds. A columned entrance opens to a double-height foyer leading to formal living and dining areas, including a dining room with floral wallpaper and a wood-paneled study lined with built-in bookshelves.

The main living areas include a kitchen centered around a large eat-in island and equipped with premium appliances. The kitchen flows into a casual dining area and family room, while a separate living room includes a fireplace, wet bar and climate-controlled wine room.
Upstairs, the primary suite features vaulted ceilings, a fireplace sitting area, a private balcony, a custom dressing space and a bathroom with dual sinks and a makeup vanity. Four additional en suite bedrooms are located on the same level.
The finished attic, illuminated by skylights, offers flexible space that can serve as a gym, media room or playroom.
Outside, the west-facing backyard includes a covered terrace, a heated swimming pool with an inset spa, a barbecue area and a flagstone fire pit. The property also includes an attached two-car garage.
