Two penthouse apartments once owned by singer John Legend and model Chrissy Teigen are back on the market in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood, giving buyers the option to purchase them separately or combine them into one residence.

The properties, located atop the historic Brewster Carriage House, are listed for a combined $22.5 million, according to Mansion Global. Together, the sixth-floor simplex and a duplex spanning the fifth and sixth floors offer more than 6,100 square feet of interior space, with room for six bedrooms and access to a rooftop terrace.
Legend and Teigen purchased the two condos separately between 2018 and 2020, paying a combined $16.72 million, according to property records. They initially planned to combine the apartments into a roughly one-and-a-half-story residence but later changed course as they shifted to spending more time in Los Angeles.
The couple sold the properties in 2022 for $16.75 million, essentially what they had paid, records show. The apartments had been listed for $18 million at the time.
The current owner has retained the separate layouts while undertaking a redesign by interior designer Augusta Hoffman. The renovation blends contemporary finishes with the building’s industrial character, preserving exposed brick walls, cast-iron columns and expansive interiors that reflect its manufacturing history.
“My clients wanted to lean into something more sculptural, tactile and luxurious,” said Kane Manera, the Corcoran listing agent who brought the properties to market last week.
The redesign incorporates travertine countertops, Calacatta marble bathrooms and sculptural stone vanities, according to the listing.
Buyers can purchase the apartments separately or combine them into one residence. The south-facing sixth-floor penthouse spans 2,600 square feet and is listed for $12.5 million. The larger north-facing unit occupies 3,500 square feet across the fifth and sixth floors and retains more of the building’s historic features.
Each apartment has its own rooftop access. Together, the outdoor spaces total nearly 4,500 square feet, providing a substantial extension of the interior living areas.
Manera said the apartments work well as separate residences but could also be joined.
“It would be heartbreaking in a way to take away what is already so beautiful,” he said of combining the units. “They complement each other beautifully.”
The six-story Brewster Carriage House dates to the 19th century, when it served as a manufacturing facility for Brewster & Co., which built luxury carriages for some of New York’s wealthiest families, including the Vanderbilts, Morgans and Astors.
As its clientele shifted from horse-drawn carriages to automobiles, the company adapted, becoming a major builder of Rolls-Royce vehicles in the early 20th century. The Great Depression devastated the luxury automobile industry, and the building eventually transitioned into residential use.
The landmarked brick building was converted into a boutique condominium in 2011.
The seller has not been publicly identified. The properties were acquired through two Delaware limited liability companies with a representative based in Santa Monica, California.
Legend and Teigen, who married in 2013 and have four children, live in Beverly Hills, California. Their home has been featured in Architectural Digest, showcasing a design centered on family life, cooking, watching television and entertaining.
The Nolita apartments offer a different setting, combining the scale and architectural details of a former industrial building with modern residential finishes in one of Manhattan’s established downtown neighborhoods.
