The Southern California residence that served as pop singer Rihanna’s first home and was later sold to John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, has been sold again.
According to Dirt, Rihanna purchased the Beverly Hills home in 2009 for $6.9 million. Yet Rihanna’s time owning the home reportedly was marked by lawsuits against the former owner and a series of contractors who allegedly failed to disclose construction and waterproofing damages. By 2014, Rihanna reached a settlement with the property’s former owner and contractors. The situation was so bad she never moved in.
Since her debut in 2005 with “Music of the Sun,” Rihanna has sold more than 250 million records internationally. Throughout her career, Rihanna has earned 14 number-one hits and 32 top-10 singles in the United States. The Barbadian-born entertainer and entrepreneur also has received nine Grammy Awards, 13 American Music Awards and 12 Billboard Music Awards. In addition, her brand Fenty has helped make Rihanna the wealthiest woman musician with a net worth of $1.4 billion.
In 2016, Rihanna sold the residence to musician John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, for $14.1 million. The couple placed the home on the market in 2020, with an asking price of $23 million. Legend and Teigen sold the property in July 2021, for $16.8 million — a drop of at least $7 million from their asking price. However, the home was resold just three months later for $19.25 million.

Since then, he has collaborated with many other musician,s including Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Rihanna and The Black Eyed Peas. Inside The Beverly Hills Residence
Despite the legal issues Rihanna experienced in the home, Legend and Teigen remodeled the home extensively and only decided to move because they needed more space.
In 2014, Rihanna settled a lawsuit with the previous owner. In the suit, she claimed the house was full of defects, and that promised repairs were never done.
Built-in 1966, the residence was rebuilt several years ago. While living in the 8,500-square-foot structure, Legend and Teigen added a patterned ceiling imported from Thailand. In addition, the couple painted the interior and exterior walls, renovated the kitchen and added wide-plank oak flooring throughout the home.
When guests enter the home, they are placed in an entryway flaunting a 33-foot ceiling and sculptural staircase.
The focal piece of the living room is Legend’s grand piano and floor-to-ceiling windows with canyon views. A double-sided fireplace connects the family and living rooms. There is also a gym and movie theater.
The gourmet kitchen, often featured in Teigen’s Instagram cooking tutorials, includes three ovens, two stoves and a marble island.
Upstairs, there are five bedrooms as well as a master suite. A handmade brass fireplace and a private balcony add character to the primary suite, including a dressing room and two walk-in closets. The other bedrooms also include private balconies and en-suite bathrooms.
The estate also includes a dark-bottomed saltwater, a heated pool, a wood-burning oven and a built-in BBQ grill. Finally, relaxing views of the canyon make the home’s outside attractive.
