Ime Udoka, the head coach of the Houston Rockets, and former fiancée Nia Long, reportedly have come to an arrangement about the custody of their 12-year-old son after their messy breakup. As part of the agreement for shared joint custody, Udoka has committed to providing $32,500 per month in child support.
Udoka’s reported monthly disposable income is $465,804, according to the RadarOnline report. The $32,500 monthly support payment constitutes just under 7 percent of Udoka’s disposable income figure.
As Finurah previously reported, Long and Udoke officially broke up in December 2022 after he was caught in a romantic scandal with a co-worker when he was the head coach of the Boston Celtics. The cheating scandal cost Udoka his relationship and his job.
After the breakup last year, Long purchased a $3.7 million mansion in Hollywood Hills Oasis. Despite working in Houston, Udoka has been reported to reside in a $ 12,000-per-month luxury rental in Los Angeles.
The Nigerian-American coach has an estimated net worth of $11.5 million, while Long has a net worth of $9 million. Long had a firstborn son in 2000 with Massai Dorsey. Her son with Udoka, Kez, was born in 2011.
In August 2023, reports surfaced that Long sought primary custody of their son, citing inadequate support from Udoka, according to Complex.
The initial filing awarded the father visitation rights. Together for 13 years until late 2022, the couple experienced a highly publicized split, prompting Long to discuss it on a podcast with Young Jeezy, who was also navigating a public breakup with his soon-to-be ex-wife Jeanie Mai.
“I had a really public breakup recently,” Long said in a conversation with Jeezy on YouTube. “It was a wakeup call for me in the sense of like, ‘OK, you’re going to do this on your own, and you’re going to be fine, and you’re not going to worry about what anyone thinks and has to say.'”
During his one-year tenure in Boston, Udoka, who was a former NBA player and an assistant coach who contributed to the San Antonio Spurs’ championship in 2014, transformed the Celtics into NBA contenders. In his first year, he led the team to the 2022 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
After being suspended and ultimately fired by the Celtics before the 2022-2023 began, Udoka was hired as coach of the Houston Rockets in April 2023.
