Meghan McCain Blames Whoopi ‘Having a Bad Day’ After That Epic On-Air Shut Down: ‘I Forgive Her’

After an on-air reproach that had “The View” fans a buzz, co-host Meghan McCain said all is forgiven between her and longtime moderator Whoopi Goldberg.

McCain, 34, appeared on a Wednesday edition of “Watch What Happens Live” with host Andy Cohen, where she discussed the recent exit of her friend Abby Huntsman from the ABC talk show. Relationships with her remaining co-hosts were also a topic of conversation.

Cohen asked specifically about McCain’s heated exchange with Goldberg, who scolded the conservative pundit live on-air last month and demanded she “please stop talking.” The on-air scolding was an immediate hit with the internet and viewers who reveled in someone finally putting the young pundit in her place. Numerous memes and reaction pieces were birthed at McCain’s expense.

“It was rough,” McCain said of that moment. “And I will say [Whoopi] was having a bad day. We talked about it that night and the next day — and ya know it’s live TV and it’s really intense, stressful times for everyone.”

The incident unfolded in December when McCain was attempting to drive home her point during a discussion on impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. McCain, who has a habit of talking over her co-hosts, tried to have the final word when Goldberg cut her off.

“Girl, please stop talking. Please stop talking right now,” “The View” veteran quipped before throwing the show to commercial.

McCain said Whoopi has since apologized and that all is well, adding: “I forgive her and I love her and, oh, if she leaves I go!”

“Whoopi is the anchor of the show and my life there,” she added. “And she always picks us up when we’re down. If she jumps, I jump. I adore her.”

Goldberg, 64, has also spoken about the tense moments she and her co-hosts often share on-air, telling late-night talk show host Seth Meyers that while it gets dicey at times, the ladies of “The View” leave it all on the table.

“We’re like old broads,” she said, chuckling. “We’re like, pow! [throws a punch] We’re not like, ‘Stop it, you’re so mean to me.’ We don’t do that.”
