Finurah Funding Friday: Get Documents Ready for Grant Applications and Funding From GoFundMe, Comcast, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Have you ever looked at a grant application and been completely overwhelmed with all of the items you are asked to include? Many grant-funding organizations expect businesses to share information such as a business plan and financial statements because they want to ensure that an applicant is running a truly viable business. Before you begin to apply for grants or seek assistance from a lender, be sure to have the following information available: 

  • Business plan 
  • Financial records such as taxes as well as income and expenses 
  • Proof of legal entity 
  • Vision statement 
  • Mission statement

The grants featured this week all provide entrepreneurs with the opportunity to not only achieve funding but also carry resources and technological support that will support business growth. 

GoFundMe Small Business Relief Initiative 

GoFundMe, best known as a crowdfunding platform, is matching grants to entrepreneurs through its relief program. Businesses posting fundraising campaigns are eligible to receive a $500 matching grant from GoFundMe. More information is available here. This program has a rolling deadline.

Backing Historic Small Restaurants Grant

It’s no secret that restaurants have needed additional support through the pandemic. The National Trust for Historic Preservation is partnering with American Express to offer the Backing Historic Small Restaurants Grant Program. Through the partnership, 25 historic small restaurants will be awarded $40,000 grants. The funds can be used to offset the costs associated with renovating or preserving their storefronts while e-commerce businesses can fulfill orders effectively. More information can be found here. Black Ambition Prize 

Businesses with at least one leader who is Black or Latino are eligible to apply for the Black Ambition Prize, awarding $25,000 to $1 million. Businesses must fall into the falling categories to be eligible. 

  • Consumer Products and Services 
  • Technology
  • Media and Entertainment 
  • Healthcare 
  • Web 3.0

Comcast Fund

Entrepreneurs of color and women running their businesses within a Comcast service area are eligible to apply to receive consulting, media, and/or creative production services from Effectv, the advertising sales arm of Comcast Cable. Eligible businesses can also receive technological support from Comcast Business. More information can be found here. Apply by June 17. 

Dream Big Awards and 2022 Small Business of the Year Award

Have you been operating your business for at least one year with less than 250 employees? Apply for the 2022 Small Business of the Year award sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The award winner will receive $25,000. More information can be found here. Apply by July 8.
