Kevin Hart might be known for his sense of humor, but he’s all business when it comes to collecting timepieces. Hart reportedly has an impressive array of watches.
‘I’m a watch guy,” Hart told Hodinkee in February. Hart mentioned his partnership with Audemars Piguet. “So I wear APs all the time now, so I have to, like, keep a lot of stuff on ice,” said Hart, who is currently traveling around the country on his “The Reality Check” Tour.
But Hart says it’s hard not to flash his other timepieces. “If you’re a real watch person, the toughest thing in the world is to not wear certain watches.”
Hart explains he rewards himself with watches.
“I fell in love with the idea of time, and what I started to do was associate watches with the work that I was doing,” he shares. “So after a project … I want to get a watch because a watch is like the clear definition of the hard work that I put into something. And when I look at a watch, I can associate that with something.”
Hart also recalled that when he first got to Hollywood and would go to meetings he’d be impressed with the watches people wore.
“I was like, my watch sucks,” he says.
So, he started collecting.
“I remember the first watch that I bought … was a [Rolex] Submariner, a stainless steel Sub,” he says. “The reason why I wanted the stainless steel Sub [was because] it was an everyday watch. … It can go with so much.”
Then he treated himself for his 25th birthday with a Rolex Daytona.
He says after going through a Jacob the Jeweler phase, he learned about AP through Jay-Z lyrics.
After that as he earned more his tastes changed, he said. “You start to make more money, your taste in watches change,” he says.
He told the outlet of yearning for one particular watch, a Royal Oak from AP in rose gold that featured a rubber watchband.
“I was like this is the watch! If I get this watch … this will be my last watch,” he remembers. “The next check I get, I’m gonna go get this watch. I remember I got the watch, and literally I just looked at this watch every single day. … It wasn’t about wearing it, it was that I worked hard and I got it.”
By 2016 Hart got into collecting vintage watches. “I like the idea of the search and find,” said Hart, who says he follows the watch auctions as well as the value of watches as they go up and down.
Time on his Hands
Most of Hart’s favorites seem to include a number of Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Richard Mille watches.
Hart owns the Rolex Daytona Rainbow 116595RBOW in rose gold, which is estimated to be worth $1 million, according to Chono24.
The watch, which is made of 18-karat yellow gold and features a rainbow-colored bezel set with 52 baguette-cut diamonds, has been around since 2012, but the rose gold variation was introduced in 2018, the Wrist Enthusiast reported.
In addition to the Rolex Daytona Rainbow, Hart owns a number of other Rolex Daytonas, such as his Rolex Daytona Ref. 116500, which ranges in price from $15,000 to $38,000. His gold Daytona ref. 116528 with a black dial and gold subdials, is priced at around $60,000, while his platinum Daytona ref. 116506 is priced between $76,000 and $140,000. Hart’s collection also includes a vintage Rolex Daytona 6263 that goes for $100,000 and a gold version with gold dial and black subdials valued at $230,000.
Hart is also an avid collector of Patek Philippe brand watches, including his prized Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-014, estimated at around $1.1 million. It is made of stainless steel and features a blue bezel.
Patek Philippe white gold Aquanaut Travel Time 5650G is another one of Hart’s rarest watches, a sports watch that cost around $690,000.
The Patek Philippe Sky Moon Celestial 6102R, a model LeBron James also owns, has a decorative black sapphire crystal dial with a rotating chart that resembles an image of the night sky in the Northern Hemisphere.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 15400ST is another of Hart’s watches. The stainless steel timepiece features a black dial and costs around $60,000, Chrono24 reports. Hart reportedly also owns the rare Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph ref. 26421ST, which costs $450,000. The watch is a limited edition and only 50 were made.
His most expensive Royal Oak is the Flying Tourbillon ref. 26534TI, which is another limited edition of 50 pieces and retails for between $145,000 and $650,000.
There are even more. Hart owns the Richard Mille RM 011 Roberto Mancini chronograph, a watch that is made of carbon fiber and has a skeletonized dial, according to Hautetime. It is a high-performance watch that is popular with celebrities and athletes, and they cost more than $267,000, according to Chono24.
