Here’s a look at the homes of the Jacksons, Whitney Houston, and Beyonce.

Goin’ Back to Indiana: The Jacksons

When the Jackson 5 was founded in 1964, the family lived in a small home in Gary, Indiana, on 2300 Jackson Street. The family of 11 — six boys, and three girls as well as Joseph and Katherine Jackson — lived in the small white home. Five years later, the family would move to Los Angeles as the group’s fame rose. In 1989, the family released the song, 2300 Jackson Street. In 2021, a sign was placed at the residence, “Home of the World Famous Jackson 5.”

The Jacksons were nominated for the album “Triumph.” While they did not win, Michael Jackson, whose estate is worth a reported $600 million won 13 Grammys. Janet Jackson, whose net worth hovers around $175 million, has earned five Grammy Awards.

East Orange, NJ: Hometown of Whitney Houston

When Whitney Houston was growing up, she spent a lot of her time at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark. But East Orange, New Jersey, was home. Houston grew up in a white clapboard house on Dodd Street. Houston’s family moved to the area after the Newark riots of 1967. In the basement, Houston’s mother, Cissy, would host rehearsal sessions for her gospel group, The Sweet Inspirations. Throughout her childhood, Houston swam with friends at Elmwood Park. The elementary school she attended was renamed the Whitney E. Houston Academy for Creative and Performing Arts.

Houston’s estate is currently worth $40 million. In her lifetime, Houston won six Grammy Awards.

Houston’s Finest: Beyoncé

When Beyoncé was growing up, she lived in the affluent Parkwood section of Houston. Her family lived in a large white house on Parkwood Drive. Although the home was sold several years ago, Beyonce still has many ties to Houston. Along with band mate Kelly Rowland, Beyonce is involved in the building an $8.4 million housing development to support homeless residents of her hometown, along with the American Rescue Plan, and other groups, including Rice University. According to county records, residents of the Knowles-Rowland housing complex will benefit from a range of support services, including access to case managers, peer specialists, service specialists, and additional amenities such as transportation, mental health, physical, and behavioral health support.

Beyonce holds the most Grammy Awards as an artist with 32 wins. She has a current net worth of $600 million.
