NBC’s “Nightly News” anchor and managing editor, Lester Holt, has stepped down from his prestigious role after a decade, transitioning to a full-time position with “Dateline,” where he has been the principal anchor for almost 15 years. The 65-year-old journalist has captivated viewers with his steady reporting and in-depth coverage, but as he transitions away from the evening news show, his impressive property portfolio has also stirred up some attention.

Holt, who has made a name for himself not only as a respected news figure, has built a portfolio of interesting properties. While he hails from California, he has called New York City home for over 50 years. Holt and his wife, Carol Hagen, a real estate agent, have owned several impressive homes in the Big Apple.

One of the most talked-about properties in Holt’s collection was his Flatiron District apartment, which he sold in 2017 for $6.4 million, according to Realtor.com. The couple purchased the three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom residence in 2007 for $3.2 million, just as Holt’s career was taking off on “Nightly News.” The apartment, located in the upscale NoMad neighborhood on Fifth Avenue, featured high-end finishes such as 11-foot ceilings, a 48-foot-long terrace, and panoramic views of Madison Square Park. The master bedroom offered custom closets and a lavish en suite bath with expensive Calacatta marble flooring, a soaking tub, and a separate shower.

After bidding farewell to their Flatiron apartment, Holt and Hagen moved to a more private, undisclosed property in Manhattan. While details of the new home are few, their previous residence was well-documented for its design and prime location.

Holt got his start in journalism as a radio reporter in San Francisco before moving into television. His first television reporting job was at WCBS-TV in New York in 1981, after which he went on to report for KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. He later returned to WCBS in 1984 before eventually joining NBC News in 2000.

Having spent a decade anchoring the “Nightly News” from June 18, 2015, until February 2025, covering everything from political shifts to global crises. Holt, 65, reportedly earned a hefty wage of around $10 million per year, The New York Post reported.
