T-Pain Explains Why You’ll Never See Him Buying a Private Jet – He Breaks it Down in Dollars

Singer and Auto-Tune enthusiast T-Pain recently revealed why some artists prefer commercial flights over private jets.

In a March 4 Instagram post from aboard a plane, T-Pain shared a breakdown of the costs involved in booking a private charter flight from Atlanta to Vegas and back, giving fans a glimpse into the hefty price tag behind private air travel.

Money Minded

The cost of the round trip would near $127,000, an amount of money he says doesn’t make sense spending on air travel.

“To take a private jet from Atlanta to Vegas and then back to Atlanta is $126,000 (the exact amount, according to the balance sheet on his phone, is $126,574, which is closer to $127,000 than $126,000),” T-Pain said.

The singer also addresses the stigma surrounding celebrities taking commercial flights, saying how critics would shame artists for going broke if they saw them in economy-class or coach seats instead flying in luxury class.

It is just smarter to fly the cheapest plane to his destination, he explained.

Laughing, he continued, “And y’all are asking me…. Do you understand what I’m saying? Are you OK now? Do you feel like it? ‘No private jet?! What?! You not taking a private jet? You’re not spending all that money to make more money? Why would you do that? In what world is that smart?’”

T-Pain didn’t reveal how much he paid for his flight or his itinerary, but the video suggests he might’ve flown a Delta first class based on the single cabin and logo on the seat.

Even though it seems T-Pain is frugal, the artist is far from going broke, having sold his catalog to HarbourView Equity on Feb. 20 for an undisclosed sum. The catalog deal, which has been estimated to be worth several millions, included hits like “Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’),” “Bartender (feat. Akon),” “I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper) (feat. Mike Jones),” Flo Rida’s “Low,” and “I’m Sprung.”

T-Pain is also the head of his Nappy Boy Entertainment, Nappy Boy Automotive, Nappy Boy Gaming, and Nappy Boy Dranks and has an estimated net worth of $10 million.
