It seems the social media is abuzz with the rumor that Jacksonville Jaguars first-round draft pick Travis Hunter made a major recent purchase of $3.275 million home in Jacksonville. Even major media outlet picked up the story as any questions the finiacal soundness. After all the rookie had just wed his longtime and controversial girlfriend Leanna Lenee in a ceremony that was reported to have cost $500,000 and he gifted her a $642,130 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Brabus 800 as a wedding gift.
Did They or Didn’t They
But the cornerback and wide receiver has yet to sign what is expected to be a $46.6 million rookie contract
So did he purchase a stunning 13-room estate in the metro Jacksonville, Florida, area, prestigious Deerwood Country Club through a limited liability company he established with his wife, Leanna De La Fuente, as reported by the Jacksonville Daily Report. The home is 8,125-square-foot and sits on an impressive 7.5-acre property within the exclusive Estates section of Deerwood, offering the ultimate in privacy and luxury living.
Built in 1995, the two-story home features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a four-car garage – ample space for the young couple to entertain and build their future together. The property’s resort-style amenities include a private pool and tennis court, perfect for maintaining peak athletic performance during the off-season.
But, alas, the estate will not be home to the newlyweds.
“I didn’t buy a house yet,” Hunter told the Jacksonville Florida Times-Union. When asked about the report that he looked at 16 houses in one day, he said, “No, that’s not true.”
According to listing agent Angela Stringfellow of Keller Williams Realty Atlantic Partners, Hunter, his wife, and brother toured 16 properties in Jacksonville the weekend following the NFL draft. But it seems they did not select or make a purchase.
For now, Hunter says his focus is on the game. The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner has secured a partnership with Adidas, adding significant endorsement income to his portfolio, Andscape reported.
“Working with Adidas is a special opportunity for me and something that I’m really excited about,” Hunter said, demonstrating his understanding of building long-term wealth through strategic partnerships.
The choice of Deerwood Country Club places Hunter among elite company in Jacksonville’s most exclusive community. Built in the 1960s as the city’s first gated country club community, Deerwood has attracted numerous NFL players, including former Jaguars placekicker Josh Scobee and defensive tackle John Henderson. This established network of professional athletes creates an ideal environment for Hunter as he transitions into his NFL career.
At just 21 years old, Hunter’s money moves and real estate decision reflects remarkable financial maturity. Rather than splurging on depreciating assets, he’s invested in a property that offers both lifestyle benefits and long-term appreciation potential in one of Jacksonville’s most coveted neighborhoods. The estate’s double-gated security, located within Deerwood’s Estates section, provides the privacy essential for high-profile athletes, while the spacious grounds offer room for future expansion.
