Dr. Dre has officially become a billionaire.
The iconic producer made his debut appearance on the Forbes World’s Billionaires list with an estimated net worth of $1 billion, according to Variety.

Finally a Billionaire
Now 61 years old and born Andre Young, Dre ranks No. 3,332 globally on the 2026 Forbes list.
The long-awaited achievement caps off decades of influence in music, production, and business, the New York Daily News reported.
The news carries extra weight because of Dre’s own bold prediction more than a decade earlier.
The producer famously declared himself “hip-hop’s first billionaire” in 2014 after Apple purchased Beats By Dre for $3 billion.
At the time, Forbes estimated the deal raised Dre’s wealth from about $550 million to roughly $800 million, leaving him short of the billionaire threshold, according to Variety.
As Finurah previously, not all of Dr. Dre’s money making moves were a success; take for an example him selling his massive vinyl record collection, calling it one of his biggest investment mistakes.
The producer revealed in an interview on the “Behind the Patrol” podcast that he once owned more than 80,000 vinyl records, which were stored in a warehouse. In the early 2000s, he decided to sell the entire collection, partly because maintaining the warehouse became expensive.
It took him about 10 years to decide to sell.
Dre first rose to prominence as a member of the pioneering rap group N.W.A, before becoming a legendary producer and entrepreneur.
His journey from the streets of Compton to the pinnacle of wealth just another example of how hip-hop has become a global business powerhouse, the New York Daily News reported.
On the 2026 Forbes World’s Billionaires list, Dre finds himself in similar company with other notable figures, including Rihanna, Aydin Dogan, Michael Cagney, and Jared Kushner.
He also joins an exclusive group of billionaire musicians that includes Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, and Rihanna, according to Variety.
Interestingly, while Dre claimed the title back in 2014, it was Jay-Z who was ultimately recognized by Forbes as hip-hop’s first confirmed billionaire in 2019. Jay-Z’s net worth now stands at an estimated $2.8 billion, the New York Daily News reported.
