Singer and actor Selena Gomez has put her Los Angeles-area mansion on the market, offering the sprawling Encino property once custom-built for late rock musician Tom Petty for nearly $6.5 million.

Goodbye Encino
The estate, located in Encino’s Rancho neighborhood, spans almost an acre of landscaped grounds. Gomez purchased the property in 2020 for roughly $4.9 million from music executive Randy Spendlove, according to property records. Ownership is held through a trust.
The listing was first reported by TMZ. A representative for Gomez did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The home carries a notable music history tied to Petty, who rebuilt the residence in 1989 after a previous home on the site was destroyed in an arson fire two years earlier. Petty had lived there with his then-wife Jane Benyo Petty and their children. Following the couple’s divorce in the 1990s, ownership transferred to Benyo Petty. Public records show the home later went through foreclosure proceedings in 2015.
The three-story residence contains about 11,500 square feet of interior space and includes six bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Architectural details throughout the property include vaulted ceilings, skylights and multiple curved balconies overlooking the grounds.

One of the home’s most recognizable spaces is its kitchen, which appeared prominently in Gomez’s cooking series “Selena + Chef.” The show, which debuted during the COVID-19 pandemic, frequently filmed scenes around the kitchen’s Viking range and white-painted brick backdrop.
The property also includes several entertainment-focused amenities, including a home theater, wine cellar, gym and recording booth. Outdoor features include a pool and spa with a cascading water feature, along with a cabana equipped with a bar and fire pit.
Listing agent Branden Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates described the grounds as “park-like” and said Gomez made substantial cosmetic updates during her ownership. Among the renovations were changes to the glam room and upgrades to flooring, kitchens and bathrooms.
The sale comes after Gomez and producer husband Benny Blanco reportedly purchased a larger home in Beverly Hills late last year. Media outlets previously reported the couple acquired a Spanish-style estate valued at approximately $35 million.
Gomez, who rose to fame as a child actor before launching a successful music and business career, has increasingly expanded her profile beyond entertainment in recent years. In addition to acting and recording, she founded the cosmetics company Rare Beauty and has served as executive producer on several television projects.
Petty, known for hits including “Free Fallin’” and “American Girl,” died in 2017 at age 66. The musician’s connection to the Encino property has remained part of the home’s appeal, particularly among music fans and luxury real estate observers.
