Busta Rhymes has settled a federal lawsuit filed by his former personal assistant, Dashiel Gables, for $25,000. This is far less than the nearly $6 million Gables initially wanted.

The settlement comes as Rhymes released “DILLAGENCE II,” a 19-track project built around unreleased production from the late legendary producer J Dilla.
According to court documents filed Aug. 20, Rhymes and his companies, Starbus LLC and Conglomerate Entertainment, agreed to resolve the dispute through a settlement signed May 27. The payment will be made in two $12,500 installments, with one classified as wages and the other covering Gables’ remaining claims, Complex reported. A federal judge must still approve the wage portion before the case officially can close.
Gables worked as Rhymes’ assistant from summer 2024 through January 2025. He claimed that he regularly worked 15 to 18 hours a day, seven days a week, while being paid a flat $200 daily rate. His responsibilities reportedly included accompanying the rapper on tour, picking up food, and handling personal errands.
The lawsuit also included allegations stemming from a January 2025 confrontation in Brooklyn. Gables accused Rhymes of punching him several times during an argument involving a delayed food order and his cellphone. Rhymes, who has an estimated net worth of $20 million, denied the allegations.
Gables also made additional claims concerning Rhymes’ treatment of employees. Rhymes filed a countersuit, alleging that Gables made false accusations that damaged his reputation and contributed to lost business opportunities.
Neither side admitted wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
Once the payments are completed, Gables will be required to dismiss his claims and return confidential materials from his time of employment.
