The Philadelphia Eagles extended Smith’s contract on April 15, securing the wide receiver a year ahead of schedule to avoid future complications and solidify their roster, CBS reported.

Smith, In Good Standing Financially

The strategic move ensures Smith, a pivotal player, remains with the team through 2028. As reported by the Philly Voice, the effort to lock in the 25-year-old Heisman Trophy winner, who was instrumental in Alabama’s two national championships during his four-season tenure, underscores the Eagles’ commitment to paving a pathway to the Super Bowl.

Since joining the Eagles in 2021, drafted 10th overall, the young star has made 240 receptions for 3,178 yards and 19 touchdowns in three seasons. Additionally, his off-field discipline is commendable, as many players of his caliber do not often display financial responsibility.

Humble Home

Smith resides in a modest home in the New Jersey suburbs, rather than an extravagant mansion. According to The Daily Mail, his 3,288-square-foot residence, purchased in July 2021, features a newly built design with an open floor plan and a loft on the second floor.

Specifics regarding the location of the five-bedroom, four-bathroom house in Burlington County are scarce, but reports suggest it is situated in the Devonforde Estates neighborhood. The home boasts a bright layout with dark hardwood floors, light-colored cabinetry, chair rails, and crown molding. According to South Jersey radio station SoJo 104.9, the property includes a full basement equipped with a large flat-screen TV, ideal for postgame sessions. Additionally, the primary bedroom offers a spacious walk-in closet.

Smith’s New Jersey home is less expensive than the house he bought for his mother that same year. The wide receiver spent $700,000 on a “luxurious pad” in Los Angeles for his mother, Christina Smith-Sylve, as reported by the Daily Mail.

In his 2021 contract, Smith signed a four-year, $20.141 million rookie deal, with a team option for 2025. He has a base salary of $825,000 for 2022, increasing to $940,000 in 2023, with total earnings this year at $1,575,518 and $2,491,036 in 2023 due to signing and roster bonuses, a cap hit of $5,493,107, and a dead cap value of $11,901,730, Spotrac reported.

The Boardroom reported that he would have become a free agent in 2026 if it were not for the extension.
