Prioritizing Freedom Over Finances: Five Years After Their $350K Fairytale Wedding, Eva Marcille Reportedly Finalizes Divorce with Michael Sterling, Declines Child Support and Alimony

After a $350,000 wedding back in 2018, Eva Marcille, a former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star, and her attorney husband Michael Sterling, reportedly have finalized their divorce.

It was a separation full of drama. When news of the split hit, Sterling publicly vowed to win back his wife. Sterling was soon after hit with a lawsuit for allegedly causing a car accident while driving under the influence. Most recently, fans of Marcille have been concerned about the already-thin model’s drastic weight loss. But this week it has been reported their divorce is final.

They filed for divorce in March 2023, citing an “irretrievably broken” marriage with no prospects for reconciliation, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.

Marcille, the winner of the reality competition show “Top Model” in 2004, said in interviews that the decision to divorce after just five years of marriage and eight years as a couple was difficult.

“This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but sometimes life takes your journey in a direction you were not expecting,” she told People.

But Sterling told the media something different at the time.

“I am not going to lose my wife. I am going to fight for her with every fiber in my being,” Page Six reported. “I love her, and I plan to show her how much I love her and that our love is strong enough to get to the other side.”

Sterling added, “I am not going to lose my wife. I am going to win her back.”

Freedom Over Financial Support

One reason the divorce didn’t drag out is Marcille reportedly decided to forgo financial support in the form of child support and alimony.

In fact, both parties reportedly waived their rights to alimony and spousal support. The former couple signed the agreement on Aug. 3, Radar reported this week.

The agreement states that they both make enough money and have enough assets to independently provide for their children.

“The parties agree that each has ample income and assets to support the Children in their respective homes,” the settlement reportedly said.

“Accordingly, the parties agree that neither shall pay direct child support to the other.”

The exes will maintain their respective bank and retirement accounts and will settle on a custody agreement privately for their children: Michael (5), Maverick (3), and Marley Rae (9).

Marley Rae’s biological father is singer Kevin McCall but she carries Sterling’s last name. He has been involved in upbringing since she was 15 months old. In 2018,Sterling and Marcille petitioned a family court to have Sterling officially declared as the father of Marley.

Fairytale wedding

The couple got married in October 2018 after dating for several years.

The star-studded wedding cost a whopping $350,000, though Marcille told Essence she initially budgeted for a lot less.

“I was naive enough to think that I can plan a wedding for eighty to one hundred thousand dollars,” she told Essence. “I spent well over $350,000.”
