Charlie Sheen recently revealed a costly prank he pulled on ex-wife Denise Richards—one that reportedly backfired to the tune of $1 million.

Check Cashed?
During the Oct. 21 episode of Kevin Clancy’s “KFC Radio” podcast, Sheen, 60, recounted how he once wrote Richards, 54, a $1 million check on her birthday “kind of as a joke.” To his surprise, he said, she “kept it not as a joke” and, a month later, cashed it.
“I’m not even sure if we were married at the time,” Sheen admitted, joking with Clancy about whether it would be funnier if they were divorced or still together. “Yeah, which makes it sting more? But if I’m on the other side of that, I’m probably cashing that check.”
Sheen also imagined a humorous scenario in which Richards might have warned him about cashing the check. “Hey, you sound like you’re driving somewhere,” he said. “Yeah, to the bank, actually! But I guess there’s gratitude that there was enough money in that account for that check not to bounce.”
The story immediately drew attention because of the sheer size of the sum. Clancy quipped, “You’re doing pretty good if you can accidentally give people a million bucks.”
Sheen and Richards have a long history. The former “Two and a Half Men” star first met Richards in 2000 on the set of “Good Advice” and began dating in 2001 after reuniting on “Spin City.” They married in June 2002 and welcomed daughters Sami, 21, and Lola, 20. Their divorce proceedings were finalized in November 2006 after a turbulent separation that included a temporary restraining order and public disputes.

Despite the messy drama of their past, the former couple has shown signs of amicability in recent years. Richards appeared at the Hollywood premiere of Sheen’s Netflix docuseries, “a.k.a. Charlie Sheen,” in September, posting to Instagram: “What a journey we’ve had — so many ups and downs. But when life gets tough, deep down we both know we can count on each other. I’m so proud of him, and truly honored he asked me to be part of his story.”
However, Richards later took to Instagram to deny that she had ever cashed the $1 million check. Sharing a photo of the actual check, she wrote, “Found this during my recent move. I never cashed it, @charliesheen. Is it still good?!”
