A leaked fines list has revealed Coach Deion Sanders’ tough new accountability measures at the University of Colorado.

While several of Sanders’ most notable additions in recent seasons — including his sons Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders, as well as two-way star Travis Hunter — followed him from Jackson State, Colorado’s latest overhaul has been driven largely by the transfer portal.

Colorado added 41 players through the transfer portal, while 34 players left the program, highlighting Sanders’ aggressive approach to rebuilding the team and the need to clearly define expectations, On3 reported.

Sanders has introduced a discipline system that allows players to be fined up to $5,000 for public or social media misconduct, with penalties tied to their NIL earnings to reinforce professionalism. Being late to practice carries a $500 fine, while missing team activities, meetings, or conditioning sessions can lead to steeper penalties.

Sports Illustrated reported that Colorado will fine players $2,500 for missing practice and $500 for being late, as part of a broader attendance-based accountability system Sanders outlined after the transfer portal closed.

Additional fines include $400 for arriving late to a meeting or film session and $2,000 for missing one entirely, $1,000 for being late to strength and conditioning or treatment, and $1,500 for no-shows.

Players may also be fined up to $2,500 for general violations of team rules and up to $5,000 for public or social media misconduct, depending on severity.

The fines list leaked on social media after it was shown during a team presentation and later surfaced in a Well Off Media YouTube video, a platform run by Sanders’ son, Deion Sanders Jr.

There are also reports that cellphones, food, and drinks are now prohibited in team meeting rooms.

Fifty-eight-year-old Sanders, who recently went public with his new relationship with 37-year-old actress model Karrueche Tran following months of speculation, also addressed profanity and respect toward women, warning players that disrespectful behavior would not be tolerated.

Sanders reinforced his expectations of maturity and accountability in remarks to the team, telling players he needs “men, not boys” as Colorado aims to rebound from a 3–9 season in 2025.
