Nipsey Hussle’s Kids Officially Inherit $11 Million Estate After 7-Year Legal Battle

Nipsey Hussle spent much of his career telling artists that ownership mattered more than fame.

While chart success could come and go, he believed businesses, trademarks, real estate, and intellectual property created the kind of wealth that could change a family’s future. More than seven years after his death, that philosophy has reached its intended destination: his children.

Nearly a Decade’s Wait

The Grammy-nominated rapper’s daughter, Emani Asghedom, 17, and son, Kross Asghedom, 9, have officially received their inheritance after a California judge approved the final distribution of Hussle’s estate, ending a probate case that stretched more than seven years.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the estate was valued at approximately $11 million. Emani and Kross each received a 50 percent share consisting of cash and other assets, although the exact amount distributed to each child has not been publicly disclosed.

The ruling, signed on July 5, closes one of hip-hop’s longest-running estate proceedings and formally transfers the remaining assets to Hussle’s heirs.

The payout represents far more than money.

When Hussle — born Ermias Asghedom — was fatally shot outside his Marathon Clothing store in South Los Angeles on March 31, 2019, he left behind a business empire built on ownership.

His holdings included interests in The Marathon Clothing and affiliated companies, trademarks, music publishing rights, master recordings, licensing revenue and other intellectual property that continues generating income years after his death. The estate also included cash, investments and personal assets accumulated through his career as both an artist and entrepreneur.

Because Hussle died without leaving a will, California’s intestate succession laws made Emani and Kross his legal heirs. But receiving their inheritance required years of probate proceedings and court oversight before every outstanding issue surrounding the estate could be resolved.

Much of the legal process centered on Emani, Hussle’s daughter with former partner Tanisha Foster. Shortly after the rapper’s death, Foster sought guardianship while Hussle’s brother, Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom, sister Samantha Smith and mother Angelique Smith petitioned to care for the teenager.

In 2019, a judge appointed the Asghedom family as Emani’s guardians, and subsequent legal negotiations continued for years before a settlement ultimately cleared the way for the estate to close.

The process proved less complicated for Kross, Hussle’s son with actress Lauren London, who maintained guardianship over his financial interests throughout the probate proceedings.

Blacc Sam served as the court-appointed administrator of the estate, overseeing its finances while continuing to grow the Marathon brand.

Under his leadership, the business remained active, preserving the entrepreneurial vision Hussle spent years building. The settlement means both children now inherit ownership interests in a portfolio designed to continue producing income well into the future rather than a one-time financial windfall.

One issue that briefly complicated the process involved singer-songwriter Tasleema Yasin, who claimed she was entitled to co-writing credit and unpaid royalties for Hussle’s song “Hussle & Motivate.” Yasin filed claims and later objections against the estate, arguing she had not received compensation she believed she was owed.

Blacc Sam argued that Yasin’s claims had already been addressed through a prior settlement agreement that granted her a percentage of the master recording and a lump-sum payment.

He maintained that any remaining contractual dispute belonged with All Money In LLC rather than Nipsey Hussle’s estate.

A judge initially requested additional documentation and further proceedings to review her objections, temporarily delaying the closing of probate. During that period, the court nevertheless approved preliminary monthly inheritance payments for Emani and Kross in early 2024.

With the judge’s July 5 order approving the final distribution, the estate’s major legal matters have now been resolved, allowing Hussle’s children to receive the inheritance built from the ownership principles their father championed throughout his life.
